Description

Implications of EU-US Open Skies 

The United States and the European Union reached a tentative 'Open Sky' deal in November 2005 to dramatically expand aviation service and boost competition on both sides of the Atlantic. In April 2008, the Agreement will come into force.

On 6 March 2008, Airneth will organize a seminar to address the potential implications of the EU-US Open Sky Agreement.

Topics

For this purpose, Airneth has invited a number of its most acknowledged fellows to discuss the potential implications of EU-US in various areas. The following topics will be addressed:

  • airline network development and market structure
  • airport capacity and market liberalization
  • environmental impacts
  • foreign ownership, control and principle place of business
  • harmonization issues
